Combined Organizations for the Visual Arts (COVA) Executive Director position. Part-time, rewarding position with 15-year old, 501c3 institution, with possible development into full-time. Candidates must be passionate about visual art and willing to work diligently toward fulfilling COVA's mission and goals. Perfect position for individual who wishes experience in running all facets of a 501c3. Must have great organizational skills, ability to communicate well in writing and verbally. Amazing board with energy to assist in maintaining COVA's mission and programs. This is your opportunity to make a difference in the San Diego area visual arts community. COVA Gallery opened in September and already has a reputation for excellence in providing though-provoking, quality exhibitions. Annual Open Studios Tour will stretch across the Mexico border this year. This is an exciting position at an exciting time in COVA's history. RESPONSIBILITIES: Attend to the daily operations of the organization, including but not limited to membership correspondence, data bases, slide registry, promotions, fundraising and sponsorships, budgeting and financial management, newsletter, web-site, contracts, grants and insurance. Manage fiscal agency programs. Provide access to resources, including resource library, slide registry. Assist member artists and artist organizations with COVA services. Manage and train volunteers. Responsible for all facets of gallery exhibition site management including programming, press, invitations, contracts, receipt and dispersal of works. Document exhibitions and process sales. In conjunction with the Open Studios Committee, develop, coordinate and monitor all facets of the Open Studios Tour, including catalog, sponsorships. Fundraise for and manage educational outreach programs. Must be knowledgeable about non-profit responsibilities, and fulfill all contractual agreements with governmental entities and donors. Reports to the board all programming, financial records, etc. Works with all COVA Board Committees. Attends COVA's internal events and meetings as well as those in the visual arts community, especially governmental arts agencies. Must be able to act as a political advocate for COVA members. QUALIFICATIONS: College degree preferred. Fine Art, Art History, Museum Management or Business degrees will be valued in selection process. Must be able to work odd hours to accommodate gallery opening schedules and meetings. Must be computer literate. Must be organized and able to multi-task. Must have own car. Salary is commensurate to small 501c3 institution.
