TITLE PROGRAM ASSISTANT DEPARTMENT Services/Fiscal Sponsorship REPORTS TO Program Officer, Services STATUS Full-time, Exempt SALARY Up to $28,000 START DATE Immediately DEADLINE Ongoing until position is filled BENEFITS Subsidized medical/dental insurance (also for dependents), life insurance, annuity plan, paid leave, TransitChek, Credit Union membership and other statutory benefits, great office location in downtown Manhattan (SoHo) The New York Foundation for the Arts seeks a Program Assistant to support the Services Department with general administrative tasks. The Services department offers a range of programs to the arts field designed to increase the professional capacity of individual artists and arts organizations to fulfill their project and organizational goals. This is accomplished through the Fiscal Sponsorship program, which provides fiscal oversight, financial management and proposal writing guidance to artists and emerging organizations, and The NYFA Leadership Initiative, which provides peer learning opportunities, workshops, technology support and implementation grants to the field. The New York Foundation for the Arts serves individual artists, promotes their freedom to develop and create and provides the broader public with opportunities to experience and understand their work. NYFA accomplishes this by offering financial and informational assistance to artists and organizations that directly serve artists, by supporting arts programming in the larger community, and by building collaborative relationships with others who advocate for the arts in New York State and throughout the country. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide administrative support in the Services department including responding to inquiries, creating documents, maintaining department calendar, photocopying, filing, and ordering departmental supplies. * Generate contracts and contract information for artists and arts organizations * Assemble information packets on fiscal sponsorship for public meetings, log in applications, and prepare application review documents for NYFA staff. * Establish relationships with fiscally sponsored artists and organizations in order to become familiar with their projects and challenges. * Maintain current information on artists and organizations in databases and generate reports when necessary. * Assist the Program Officers in research, writing, editing and fact checking of information distributed to artists and organizations. * Actively participate in annual planning of goals and objectives for the department. * Undertake special projects as needed. REQUIRED SKILLS * Strong computer skills; familiarity with databases, word-processing and Internet use. * Strong administrative skills, including the ability to organize and balance workload under deadlines and multiple commitments. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Familiarity with the nonprofit sector and interest in arts and culture. * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of team. * College degree preferred.
