Ref: QMB 244/02 Location: Museum of Tropical Queensland, Townsville Key Duties:
Provide experienced strategic and operational leadership and management for the MTQ as a campus of the Queensland Museum and as one of North Queensland's pre-eminent cultural tourism destinations.
Direct the MTQ public programs, educational and outreach programs, marketing and administrative functions, finance and facilities management and information technology systems.
Develop annual operational plans and prioritise the annual budget of the MTQ ensuring the most efficient and effective use of budget allocations. Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead a diverse > multidisciplinary team in the managment of a significant cultural tourism destination.
Demonstrated ability in resource management and achievement in procuring significant external funding, including knowledge of appropriate markets, industry and external funding organisations.
Sound understanding of natural and cultural heritage and the key issues facing these areas.
Sound knowledge and understanding of current trends and developments in museum services both within Australia and overseas.
