Creative NZ staffing restructure

IFACCA/Artshub,
20 August 2002, New Zealand

Creative New Zealand is currently making changes to its management and staffing structure, and as such is advertising seven positions within the organisation nationally. Chief Executive of Creative NZ, Elizabeth Kerr, has noted that a key impetus for the changes is an increased focus on services to the arts sector. 'Some of the new positions are to ensure that our artform advisers are well-supported to work more closely with artists and arts organisations,' she commented. According to a media release, the organisation is also focusing on its strategic, policy and planning capacity, which Kerr notes has previously been shared amongst staff and managers who have other designated responsibilities. 'We are now setting up a small dedicated team to co-ordinate this work across the organisation,' she added. Kerr has commented that the changes do not mean a substantial change to the level of staffing, with four positions and one contract position disestablished and six new ones have been established. The organisation is seeking staff who have both an understanding of and commitment to the arts, and the ability to build strong relationships outside the organisation. The positions being advertised are: Manager, Arts Services; Manager, Strategic Services; Maori Arts Adviser; Executive Assistant, Maori Arts Adviser; Assistant Arts Adviser, Arts Services; Administrator, Arts Services; Administrator, Corporate Services.
