New Director for NEA Media Arts Programs

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has recently announced that music critic and broadcaster Ted Libbey has been appointed as its Director of Media Arts Programs, an initiative aimed at quality arts programming on US radio and television. Acting Chairman of the NEA, Eileen B. Mason has commented that the organisation is excited to have Libbey within this capacity, noting that his 'stellar broadcasting career, wealth of knowledge, and stature in the arts community as a critic and scholar will help us to expand our efforts to bring the best of arts to the American people.' In the new role, Libbey will supervise the panel selection and grant making process for the arena of media arts (film, television and radio) and will provide professional leadership to the field.
