JOB DESCRIPTION Position Director, Silicon Valley Cultural Marketing Partnership. Reports to Executive Director, Arts Council Silicon Valley. Status Full-Time, Exempt Salary Competitive with excellent benefits The Director of the Silicon Valley Cultural Marketing Partnership (SVCMP) will be responsible for the successful start-up, development, and implementation of a new nonprofit collaborative arts marketing program serving the diversity of arts and cultural groups in the Silicon Valley region. S/he will work closely with the Arts Council''s Executive Director and SVCMP Steering Committee and other community leaders who were involved with the project's feasibility study. S/he will manage the SVCMP's day-to-day business affairs, supervise other staff and contractors, and assume primary responsibility for implementing the SVCMP's programs. S/he will provide visible public leadership for the project. S/he will participate in development and fundraising activities needed to sustain the SVCMP during and beyond its initial three-year start-up period, as well as direct the development of several fee-based arts marketing services. In addition, the ideal candidate will be a professional with marketing and small business development experience with substantial knowledge of the Silicon Valley/Bay Area nonprofit arts and cultural community. The SVCMP Director will interact on a regular basis with senior executive and marketing staff from Silicon Valley's largest cultural organizations plus effectively interact with staff and volunteer Board members from small and midsize culturally diverse organizations. This is a "hands-on" start-up position. The Director should be a team player with excellent team-building capabilities and a high comfort level with initially working without the benefit of staff or infrastructure. Within a year or two, the Director will be expected to perform fee-based marketing consulting services on behalf of the project to the Silicon Valley cultural community. Qualifications * Strong small-business and nonprofit start-up organizational skills and experience * Significant, varied experience working in and around nonprofit arts and cultural organizations * Professional knowledge of current nonprofit arts marketing issues (particularly in Silicon Valley/Bay Area) * Experience with Internet technologies helpful * Excellent fiscal and administrative management abilities * Innovative, creative leadership skills
