Yorkshire Cultural Consortium,
06 September 2002, United Kingdom

The Yorkshire Cultural Consortium brings together a range of interests as a single voice to speak for and promote all the cultural sectors in the region. The Consortium has in place a regional strategy to create greater public and media understanding on how culture can support wealth creation, social inclusion, education and regeneration strategies. It has recently appointed a Chief Executive to drive the delivery of the strategy. A recent review of the Consortium by the Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media & Sport has resulted in increased responsibilities for the Consortium and a need to reconstitute the Board to enable it to focus on delivering of its strategy, increasing the profile of the cultural sector and promoting the region. The Board will consist of up to 12 members appointed as individuals and with the ability to rise to the challenges the new responsibilities bring. Appointments will be in line with Nolan principles and whilst no fees are paid, reasonable expenses are refunded. Appointments will be for two years.
