Young Audiences/New York is a not-for-profit arts-in-education organization, founded in 1952, and is one of 31 chapters nationwide. Young Audiences/New York provides professional performing, literary and visual arts programs in schools in New York City and the surrounding counties. During the 2001-2002 school year, YA/NY reached nearly 200,000 students, teachers and families in over 200 schools and community organizations with more than 10,000 workshops and performances. These programs include artist-in-residence programs, performance programs, after school programs, teacher training workshops, master classes, community concerts and special projects. Young Audiences was the 1994 recipient of the National Medal of Arts. Reporting to the Executive Director, the responsibilities of the Director of Development include: * Researching, grant writing, budgeting, reporting, planning and tracking * Identifying, researching and cultivating potential corporate and foundation funders * Representing the organization as appropriate * Writing reports and acknowledging gifts * Planning and implementing special events and cultivation opportunities * Supervising annual appeals * Maintaining a database for tracking funders and giving history * Planning special projects * Working with the Board of Directors and Development Committee * Developing print, online and video materials, as appropriate * Coordinating solicitation mailings * Serving as a liaison with special events planning and public relations consultants * Participating in the writing and editing of newsletters and annual reports * Supervising Development Department Staff and Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * 3-5 years of fund-raising experience * Excellent written, verbal communication and computer skills * Prior arts-in-education experience and an understanding of arts programming preferred * Knowledge of New York philanthropic community * Supervisory experience a plus * Knowledge of Raiser's Edge helpful Salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits Position available immediately.
