National Poetry Day 2002 is taking place in the England on October 10, and thanks to funding from the Arts Council of England (ACE) New Audiences Department, the National Poetry Society is offering a substantial range of free services, support material and publicity to promoters. National Poetry Day has been running in the UK for nine years, and is now an established fixture on the national events calendar. Throughout the duration of the day, poetry readings, launches and workshops will be held at schools and community venues nationwide, aimed at increasing the public’s awareness of and participation in poetry. The funding awarded by the ACE has seen the provision of support material for the event, including posters and a 36-page online Promoters’ Toolkit.
