The purpose of Gemini Ink is to celebrate the art in literature by maintaining an independent literary center; providing three semesters annually of university-and master-level classes in the study and creation of literature and the related arts; staging an annual series of eight dramatic reader's theater productions of classic and contemporary literature; and providing literary opportunities for children and special-needs groups. At present, Gemini Ink serves over 3,000 people annually with a budget of $318,000. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors and has a dues-paying support group called The Friends of Gemini Ink.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Developing, marketing, and implementing all programs.
* Overseeing the financial affairs, including budgeting, fundraising, tax preparations, strategic planning, and reporting to the board.
* Expanding financial development, including coordination of the annual membership and contribution campaigns, stewardship of major donors, grant writing, and planned giving/endowment.
* Cultivating and maintaining relationships with groups such as the Friends of Gemini Ink, members, donors, sponsors, other arts organizations, writers, booksellers, and publishers.
* Supervision of staff and volunteers and management of daily operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and knowledge of trends in contemporary literature. A minimum of five years experience at a professional position requiring management skills and responsibilities.
Knowledge and experience in financial management and the budgeting process.
Excellent grant-writing skills.
Experience with nonprofit organizations.
