Resource: the Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries has announced that it will work together with recently established The Reading Agency (TRA) to produce a new web-based dimension to next year’s summer Reading Challenge. Developed over the last four years, the Reading Challenge is aimed at encouraging all young UK students to read over their summer break and forms part of the People's Network; a project to connect all public libraries to the Internet. The new website, which will be launched in the spring of next year, is aimed at offering new reading experiences through a mixture of books and IT, with children able to enter the virtual author worlds and sample many interactive features. Resource notes that its partnership with TRA is symbolic of a new era for public libraries and the People’s Network, and marks the beginning of its aspirations to facilitate the creation of nationally co-ordinated online content and services.
