The Australian Entertainment Industry Association (AEIA), the only registered trade association representing the performing arts industry in Australia, is seeking a Chief Executive of the highest calibre to lead this dynamic and diverse national organisation. This is a challenging position, responsible for policy and IR direction, advocacy and lobbying on behalf of subsidised and commercial employers.
AEIA is a not-for-profit, body corporate organisation, with Australia-wide membership covering all aspects of the entertainment industry including theatre, opera, ballet, dance, festivals, colleges, rock and roll, multi-purpose and sporting venues, hirers, casinos, orchestras, comedy and variety, ticketing, events, production, cinema exhibition, crewing, sound and lighting, service supply, contracting and exhibition.
The position requires a diverse range of skills to manage a small office and provide quality services to this large membership base. The successful applicant will be:
dynamic and self-motivated
visionary and able to formulate and drive industry policy
an able advocate and lobbyist
an excellent oral and written communicator
experienced in HR and IR management
experienced in negotiations, and be conciliatory and diplomatic
knowledge in areas such as marketing and sponsorship services
knowledge in government and bureaucratic operations
a strong leader
This position is based in Melbourne, but requires regular interstate travel to service the national membership and meet with a range of stakeholders and unions.
Experience in an art-related organisation or similar background, with policy development experience is desirable. An appropriate salary package will be negotiated to attract a high calibre applicant.
