Director

British Film Institute,
15 November 2002, United Kingdom

The British Film Institute (BFI) is seeking to appoint a new Director to lead this world class organisation through a period of change and development. This key role will be both strategic and organisational, and involves representing the bfi across the film industry, and the highest levels of government, as well as working with the Film Council which funds it. The successful candidate must have a passion for cinema and television and their history, as well as a clear commitment to the conservation and exhibition of the bfi’s unique collections, making them available to scholars, students and the public alike. This challenging role calls for vision and the leadership to take forward the bfi as the UK’s leading cultural and educational organisation for film which employs a staff of around 500 and turns over £30 million a year. It offers a unique opportunity to extend the appreciation of the moving image to the diversity of people who live and work in the United Kingdom.
