Turkish song competition announced

The Republic of Turkey's Ministry of Culture has announced an international song competition to commemorate the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign. The competition is open to composers from Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, England, France, India and Germany, and is aimed at remembering the Gallipoli campaign through a contemporary framework. Interested participants are invited to submit original compositions of between three and five minutes, containing the themes of peace and love within the song's lyrics. The song can be written in any language, and the winning entry will be performed at the Remembrance Day celebrations and on the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign. A cash price of US$7,000 will be award to the first place winner, while second and third place winners will receive US$5,000 and US$3,5000 respectively. Seven 'Success Awards' will also be delivered, each with a cash prize of US$2,000. The Vice Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Huseyin Akbulut, will lead a judging panel which will also include musicians to be determined by the embassies of the participating countries.
