DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS

The Director of Public/Private Partnerships in the Office of Cultural Affairs is a full-time position reporting to the OCA Commissioner. S/he is the staffperson leading our new campaign to create public/private partnerships to support and promote cultural programming. S/he is responsible for overall strategy, partner identification and development, cultivation, and solicitation. S/he is responsible for establishing processes and practices for the new Boston NOW Cultural Fund, staffing its Trustees, and developing and carrying out fundraising activities. A broad range of strategies are currently in planning and implementation stages. In FY03, s/he is responsible for leveraging funds to match committed city, state and federal funds in this initial year of the campaign. Infrastructure created in FY03 will enable the growth and development of this Fund in future years. Responsibilities: The Director of Public/Private Partnerships manages the Development and Promotion team of the Office of Cultural Affairs. Specific duties include:
  • Create and implement a comprehensive strategy for generating private, state and federal funds to support the Mayor’s Boston Cultural Agenda for Boston’s residents and visitors
  • Implement this campaign by identifying new revenue sources and generating new vehicles for soliciting support
  • Liaison to Trustees overseeing Boston NOW Cultural Fund to engage their support and involvement in generating new resources
  • Ongoing liaison to public and private partners
  • Coordinate with oversee visibility campaign to build awareness for private support in partnership with media and communications partners
  • Plan and manage fundraising events to cultivate individual and corporate donations
  • Recruit, coordinate and facilitate volunteers and interns to support the work of the OCA and citywide cultural activity
  • Special projects as needed
Qualifications:
  • Director of Public/Private Partnerships
  • B.A.; M.A. or M.B.A. preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in development – strategy development and implementation
  • Prior experience in public and/or private cultural administrative work preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team player – flexible, cooperative, responsible, sense of humor
  • Staff supervision experience
  • Working knowledge of Boston neighborhoods
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse range of individuals and organizations
  • Experience with a range of software including database, word processing, financial and desktop publishing
