Jamaica’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture is currently staging its ‘Cultural Sunshine Boonoonoonoos Project’ in London and it is also working on a national cultural policy. Using musical theatre, the project aims to counter the negative images of Jamaican society that permeate the UK, according to a statement from the ministry. The production, entitled Jamaica, the Musical is presented by Jamaica’s ASHE Performing Arts Ensemble and highlights the achievements of the Jamaican people. In other news from Jamaica, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture is currently developing a National Cultural Policy. The final process of consultation and consolidation will take place over February, and the policy is expected to be approved by Cabinet in March. For more information, Click Here
