Resource moves to save Titian artwork

Resource, the Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries, has played a key role in saving a Titian masterpiece for Scotland, according to a recent statement from the organisation. As a result of the Acceptance in Lieu (AIL) Scheme, which enables taxpayers to offer works of art and important heritage objects into public ownership in lieu of inheritance tax, the Titian’s Venus Anadyomene will remain at the National Gallery of Scotland, where it has been on display since 1945. Resource’s AIL Panel agreed to the sale, and advised the Scottish Ministers and the Inland Revenue on the importance of the painting, its value and the suitability of its allocation to the National Gallery of Scotland. Capital Taxes Manager at Resource, Gerry McQuillan, said that he was ‘particularly pleased that, at a time when other important heritage items are under threat of export abroad, this item is now secure within the National Gallery of Scotland.’ For more information about Resource, CLICK HERE.
