Belize Ministry of Education, Youths and Sports recently launched Culture Awareness Week, celebrated from May 20 to 23. Culture Awareness Week is aimed at encouraging citizens to learn about the major ethnic groups of Belize and the distinct contribution each cultural group is able to make to the country. A sense of belonging and appreciation for Belize and its people was the desired outcome of the initiative, hopefully achieved through periodic field trips to Indigenous cultural groups, guest speakers, ethnic cooking lessons and music.
