Culturally diverse arts funded in Leicestershire

Arts Council England, East Midlands has announced another round of lottery funding, this time in Leicestershire. A total of £133,375 has been distributed across three organisations, including an African Caribbean arts forum, a British Asian theatre company and a secondary college showcase event. Leicester Caribbean Arts Forum (LACAF) was awarded £108,375 towards a three-year development programme to establish a resource base for Black Arts in Leicester. Meanwhile, Hangama Productions received £15,000 towards the production of a play following the lives of a family of second generation Asians, When Amar Met Jay. Finally, Sir Jonathan North Community College in Leicester received £10,000 in support of the Joint Secondary Schools Gifted and Talented Showcase Event, which is to take place in June. The showcase will feature visual arts projects, drama, dance and music around the theme of cultural diversity in the City of Leicester. For further information, visit Arts Council England HERE.
