Contemporary Australia in Japan

The Australian International Cultural Council (AICC) will present a major festival in Japan this year incorporating dance, music, film, theatre and visual arts in an effort to promote a contemporary image of Australia internationally. 'Ancient Future', in partnership with the Australia Council, aims to not only highlight Australia’s cultural diversity, but to encourage an appreciation for Indigenous and contemporary works across a range of artforms. Australia Council's Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Bott, believes that the festival will develop a greater depth of knowledge and understanding of Australian arts, and pave the way for further opportunities for Australian artists. 'Our cultural programs project Australia as a democratic, tolerant, vibrant, innovative and creative nation,' says Bott. 'The Ancient Future program planned for Japan reinforces this view in another culturally rich country.' For further information on the Australia Council for the Arts, CLICK HERE.
