Lower Manhattan seeks submissions from cultural organisations

The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) is inviting cultural organisations to submit information about creating an interpretative museum about attacks on the World Trade Center. Noting that both New York State Governor George E Pataki and City Mayor Michael R Bloomberg have expressed a vision for Lower Manhattan in which cultural organisations play an expanded role, LMDC seeks cultural institutions that will honour and celebrate life while providing an appropriate setting for rememberance. The project aims to establish Lower Manhattan as a vital and diverse world class cultural destination; animate the neighbourhood and be a community focal point; improve the quality of life for workers, visitors and residents of the area; and stimulate economic development.
