Director After a decade of distinguished leadership as Director of the Academy Professor Lo King-man will relinquish his office on 31 August 2004. The Academy Council now commences its search for his successor. The right candidate will need to possess the following qualities: An efficient Chief Executive Officer with proven ability to lead the staff and students and manage the institution effectively to sustain and further the development of the Academy at a time of change and stringent finances. An experienced professional in the performing arts, respected for artistic creativity and educational contributions, with a deep knowledge of at least one of the Academy's major arts disciplines and a broad understanding of all, who has a fine reputation, impeccable integrity and an international outlook. An individual with good academic and/or professional qualifications who has relevant administrative experience at a senior level in a tertiary institution, arts institute, or major organisation. A clear thinker and articulate advocate of artistic ideals, with innovative vision balanced by an understanding of practical limitations. English is vital, Chinese language skills a plus. An approachable, enthusiastic person who is committed to educating and training young artists. The Academy Director, who reports to the governing Council of the Academy on all aspects of the institution's activities, represents a position of significant importance and profile. It will attract an annual salary in the order of AU$318,000 and the specific offer will depend upon level and relevance of experience. Appointment will be made on 4-year renewable contract with 15% end of contract gratuity.
