First meeting of new Arts Council

The newly appointed Arts Council of Ireland held its inaugural meeting in Dublin this month. The Council was addressed by Ireland’s Minister for the Arts, Sport and Tourism, John O’Donoghue TD, who was also accompanied by senior officials from his department. The Council members met with staff, and agreed on a program of meetings for the remainder of the year. They also expressed their determination to work in partnership with artists and arts organisations, and to build more effective and interactive communication channels with the sector.
