The Regional Cultural Alliance (RCA) of Greater Birmingham, Alabama, seeks an experienced, entrepreneurial executive with extensive arts background and current experience in the nonprofit environment to successfully guide the development of a new nonprofit cultural organisation. RCA is seeking a visionary leader with demonstrated experience in arts and culture, fundraising, policy and program development, advocacy, marketing, staffing, finances, and board and external relations with minimum 5 years experience in an executive management role in the arts or comparable experience. Masters degree highly desired. Must possess excellent communication and management skills. The Regional Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham is a new private sector agency that will serve as the regional cultural council for the City of Birmingham, Jefferson County, and other municipalities in the 12-county region. RCA will represent a diverse range of arts and cultural organisations, artists, and craftsmen of the region. It will raise the private and public sector dollars necessary to run programs related to funding, facilities and infrastructure, marketing, cultural education, and neighborhoods, and create consistent re-granting guidelines for these funds. The RCA will be responsible for developing an overall vision for the arts and cultural development, based on the initiatives identified in the recently completed Cultural Master Plan, and then implementing that vision. The President and CEO will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of RCA and will be responsible for positioning the agency as a leader in the region's cultural community by shaping the organisation's response to current issues, needs, and practices. The President and CEO reports to the Board of Directors and manages the staff, consultants, and the organisation's overall operation. The position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
