Italy is playing host to a landmark Peruvian pre-Columbian art exhibition, reconstructing for the first time ritual moments of the Moche people. The exhibition, titled 'Peru: Three Thousand Years of Masterpieces', includes artworks that illustrate the sacrifice ceremony of the pre-Inca culture, developed between the years 100AD and 700AD on the northern coast of Peru. In addition to the reconstruction of rites, the exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, weavings and jewelry - in total 400 works from different museums around the world. Institutions that contributed works include the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Lima; the Museum of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru; the Linden Museum of Stuttgart, Germany; and the Museum of America of Madrid. The exhibit is displayed at the Palazzo Strozzi, Florence and represents the first pre-Columbian art display of this scope.
