Pinar del Rio To Preserve Music Heritage With New Centre

IFACCA/Artshub,
24 January 2004, Cuba

In an effort to preserve Pinar del Rio’s music heritage a music information centre has been created in the province – the first of its kind in Cuba. The Argeliers Leon Centre will contain various collections of valuable music objects and historical documents (many donated by artists and their families) acquired over the last five years by local specialists. Among them are more than five thousand music scores, nearly two thousand long play and 78 rpm albums, some 500 photos, and the personal materials of noteworthy Cuban artists, including Pedro Junco (author of world famous bolero, Nosotros).
