Australia’s two largest capital cities will play host to the Res Artis International Conference of artist residencies this August. KNOWLEDGE + DIALOGUE + EXCHANGE: Remapping Cultural Globalisms is an initiative of the Res Artis International Association of Residential Art Centres – an organisation connecting over 200 residencies worldwide. The Australian gathering of its delegates, convened by Artspace in Sydney and Gertrude Arts Complex in Melbourne, is designed to stimulate and facilitate exchange and networking between cultural operators from Europe and North America, the Asia-Pacific Region, Africa and South America. The six-day convergence across both cities features both Australian and International speakers, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, commissioned performances, music and literary events A key objective is to ensure that the culturally diverse International delegates and members of Res Artis Artist-in-Residency Centres are exposed to the multidisciplinary infrastructure of Australian art and cultural organisations.
