Representatives from African nations recently met at Bamako, Mali, to lay the groundwork for their involvement in the upcoming World Culture Forum in Brazil. The preparative meeting brought together 45 participants from 15 countries, including Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, the RCA and the Ivory Coast. Participantsworked toward a shared objective: to ready the African voice for the Brazil forum and to facilitate ongoing discussion of the role of African art and culture in a perpetually changing world. African delegates to the World Culture Forum (June 24th to July 4th), will be exploring issues of cultural diversity, globalisation and the influence of information technologies on heritage. The international forum will unite culture ministers, scholars, practitioners and other cultural specialists. It is organised by Rede Brasile, the Brazilian association for independent art and culture producers, in collaboration with the town of Sao Paulo and the Brazilian Cultural Ministry. The Forum also has the support of several government authorities, private facilities and international organisations and foundations. For further information in French, CLICK HERE.
