The pilot phase of a new radio project for the Caribbean community has been launched at the 25th meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Grenada. Radio CARICOM: ‘The voice of the Caribbean Community’ will link the Caribbean via internet protocol and low powered FM transmitters providing information and coverage of Caribbean developments and activities within the region. Belize radio station Love-FM is a key participant in the project, which is part of the Region’s Connectivity Agenda. Love-FM’s facilities have been made available to Radio CARICOM to enable Radio CARICOM Programmes to be received in Belize and surrounding areas. Heads of Government attending the meeting also witnessed the inauguration of the Caribbean Knowledge Learning Network (CKLN) which will harness satellite technology to link Universities and tertiary level educational institutions throughout the region.
