France appoints new President for cultural finance institute

French Minister of Culture and Communication, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, has appointed Hugues R. Gall President of the Institute for Financing Cinema and Cultural Industries (IFCCI). Gall, 64, most recently served as director of the National Opera of Paris from 1995 to July 2004. Prior to that, he was director of the Grand Theatre of Geneva for 15 years, secretary-general of the Reunion National Opera Theatres (1969-1973) and worked as assistant administrator of the National Theatre of the Opera of Paris alongside Rolf Liebermann from 1973 to 1980. Created in 1983, IFCCI provides access to the credit for those in the cultural sector, facilitating the support mechanisms involved. With cooperation from authorities, such as the National Centre of Cinematography, IFCCI guarantees short or medium term bank credits are granted to the producers of cinematographic or audiovisual works, cinema owners, those working in technical industries and within the broader domain of art and culture.
