A new international cultural industries tradeshow has been launched in Abidjan. SICA, which will take place from the 7th to the 11th of December this year, has been organised with cultural industries in mind, but also creative and knowledge industries who are from sectors that combine the creation, production and commercialisation of goods and services of a cultural nature. The event will include an exhibition fair of cultural goods and services, an international workshop on the conditions of African cultural industries, a training seminar on Culture, Commerce and Globalisation, a lecture on Financing Cultural Industries and the awarding of a prize for excellence for cultural operators. The objective of the tradeshow is to illustrate and promote the connection between economy and cultural industries, to promote cultural diversity, stimulate cultural dialogue and to position the Ivory Coast as a potential market for African and International cultural industries. It is viewed as a test case for future cultural industries events, with organisers hoping to ‘polish’ proceedings after the inaugural affair. For more information in French, CLICK HERE.
