Impact Database

Centre for Cultural Policy Research (University of Glasgow),
01 October 2004, United Kingdom

The Centre for Cultural Policy Research has been commissioned by the Scottish Executive to maintain and develop a bibliographical database containing research on the social, cultural and economic impact of arts, culture and major events. The database was developed by Janet Ruiz, senior researcher, Culture, the Arts and Sport and contains more than 200 references with details of new research being added on a weekly basis. Research themes include studies on: arts and culture; arts, culture and education; arts, culture and inclusion; arts and health; arts, culture and audience development; arts, culture and the economy; cultural tourism; major cultural events; and major sporting events with an emphasis on research dating from 2000. It is fully searchable with both simple and advanced search functions. Users can keep track of their references using the 'pinboard' facility and can submit comments or views on the research listed. Users can also register to receive a quarterly e-mail newsletter with details of new material included in the database and submit information about their research. CCPR hopes that the database will prove to be a valuable resource for those working or researching in the arts, culture and major events who have an interest in their social and economic effects.
