IFACCA/Artshub,
12 November 2004, Angola

The Angolan community in Baton-Rouge, Louisiana, has held its annual international exposition on Angolan culture, called Expo2004. Organised by the State University of Louisiana, this annual event aims to promote international cultural exchange and to give an opportunity to the participants to make known the potentialities of their respective countries. Composed of 23 members, the Angolan group also presented a parade of traditional costumes, music and dances. The exhibition was highly applauded, in particular for the demonstration of the dance 'kizomba' and for the presentation of a ballet of the African woman. The vice-president of the Association of Angolan residents in the State of Louisiana, Suzana de Abreu, said to the press that the exposition captured the attention of thousands of people, who until then, did not know anything about the culture of the Republic of Angola.
