The Ark, Europe's only custom-designed arts center for children, has seen over 280,000 children participate in its quality arts and cultural activities since it opened in 1995. Intenationally and nationally acclaimed as a world leader and innovator in the provision of visual, musical and performance arts programmes for children, The Ark offers a unique blend of stimulating artistic experiences for children irrespective of their education and background. Ten years on, The Ark's vision is to grow and extend The Ark's role both inside and outside of its Temple Bar venue, providing a truly national resource for children's artistic experiences. Targeted at schools, theatres and communities throughout the country, and through the production and promotion of outstanding and inspirational performances, exhibitions and workshops, this policy aims to have a national and regional impact. Under the auspices of Ark Trust, a highly successful outreach programme has already been initated and made possible through public and private funding. The Ark also wishes to engage with and facilitate the wider artistic community to interact with children as a legimate and important audience for their work. The Ark now seeks a dynamic leader to implement this strategy and build upon the heritage and success of The Ark to date. The position of Director incorporates the roles of Artistic Director and Chief Executive and reports directly to the Board. The Ark currently employs 13 core staff, and has an operating budget in excess of €1m.
