The Danish Arts Council has earmarked DKK 6 million (approx. EUR 800,000) toward realizing its ambitious International Contemporary Arts Festival, 2007. Organisers say that now is an ideal time to follow up recent international successes with a festival that will strengthen its ties to the international art world and foster a fruitful exchange that will inspire artists and spur further development in contemporary Danish art. The festival will focus on the visual arts, while incorporating other forms of expression of relevance to the chosen theme, and aims to present contemporary international art of high quality to Danish and international audiences. As a first step, the Reference Committee is calling for proposals for a festival theme by advertisement in Danish newspapers although artists, curators, institutions and others abroad are eligible for grants from the pool of funds. May 30, 2005 is the deadline for submitting proposals for a festival theme, along with a preliminary outline of organization and financing. Final proposals must include a detailed theme, an action plan for carrying out the festival, as well as a financing scheme for the entire festival. The Danish Arts Council will decide which of the five plans will be put into operation. Further information, CLICK HERE
