The Scottish Arts Council is seeking a Head of Music. Key duties for this position include: • To develop, implement and communicate the Council’s policy for music in all its forms within the context of the Council’s overarching aims and objectives. • To work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure delivery of the Council’s overall aims in areas such as education, participation in the arts, urban/rural arts development, cultural diversity, social inclusion, disability, internationalism. • To contribute an overview on national and international developments in music, maintaining links with relevant national and international organisations. • To advocate, liaise and negotiate on behalf of the Council with relevant organisations on policy matters, including the Scottish Executive, local authorities, development agencies, enterprise boards. • To ensure that applications for grants funding are fairly assessed, taking delegated decisions within an agreed framework and making recommendations to decision-making bodies. • To lead and organise an annual music forum as a means of consulting on and addressing key issues in Scotland.
