11 April 2005, Ireland

Arts Council Ireland has announced a new scheme to assist independent publishing houses in the creation and dissemination of publications of a specialist, cultural and artistic nature. The decision to offer the scheme, has come out of consultation and dialogue with the arts community, and is offered to address a particular need identified from within independent publishing in Ireland. The overall budget for the scheme is €40,000 and awards will be made to the value of between €1,500 and €7,000 per title. The aim of the Title-by-Title scheme is to offset some of the production, editorial and advance royalty costs incurred by publishers. The scheme’s 2005 awards are intended specifically to co-fund the publication of works of drama, poetry, fiction, contemporary artistic biography, and contemporary literary or cultural criticism. Applications will be received from publishers with an established reputation and the scheme will also run in 2006. For further information, CLICK HERE
