Culture Ministers in South East Europe sign charter

The Belgrade based BalkanKult Foundation, reports that a Culture Ministers from South East Europe Culture have signed a charter to form a new council. The signing ocured at a special conference in Copenhagen on March 31 this year. The Nordic Council of Ministers, founded in 1952 to faciliate and promote cultural co-operation, initiated the conference. The objectives of the newly formed Council of Ministers of Culture of South East Europe (SEE) are to:
  • promote a prevailing spirit of dialogue, peace, understanding, integration and comprehensive cultural policies in the South East Europe;
  • assemble efforts towards exploring and using the potential of culture for the purposes of sustainable development in the region; and
  • to create a new forum for dialogue and interaction between the Ministers of Culture and other government and non-government structures to construct joint cultural strategies, opportunities and projects, and exchange information and experiences.
