The Spanish Ministry for Public Works has announced that it will contribute €17.3 million toward the financing of 54 projects which are public works or related heritage works that have historical or artistic value. The grants package was approved by the Minister for Public Works, Magdalena Alvarez, and the Minister for Culture, Carmen Calvo. The projects have been earmarked to conserve and enrich Spanish historical heritage. Among the projects selected are undertakings to improve structures of historical and cultural value including roads, including Roman paved roads, bridges, and railway and maritime heritage and public work constructions. The projects have also attracted support from other organisations with an interest in architectural heritage or with an artistic and/or historic interest, such as museums, theatres, industrial heritage, cathedrals, monasteries, castles and goods relating to the UNESCO world heritage or parks and archeological sites.
