Arts Council of Northern Ireland,
01 September 2005, United Kingdom

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has released a new report, Arts and Culture in Northern Ireland – 2004 Baseline Study, documenting the results of survey it commissioned about audiences, artists and public perceptions about the role of the arts in Northern Ireland. The report provides answers to key questions of who is attending or participating in arts activities and why, or why not, making it a useful tool for the sector and the Arts Council. A variety of critical data is revealed, such as: women are five times more likely to participate in crafts than men; and 80% of people believe their quality of life has been enriched by the arts.
