Changing places

Arts Council England,
26 September 2005, United Kingdom

During his ‘time out’ in January to April 2005, Arts Council England chief executive, Peter Hewitt, wrote a paper - Changing places - that tried to distil some of his thinking during those months. It was written in a personal style and was intended as a ‘think piece’ for staff and Council about the future of the arts in England and the Arts Council. It contained many thoughts and ideas. The paper has generated animated discussion inside the Arts Council, which has helped form his thinking about the future.. In the early autumn Peter will be writing a successor paper that makes clear proposals about ideas emerging from Changing Places on which he thinks action should be taken. In the meantime, the paper is available to download from the Arts Council website, so that others outside the Arts Council are aware of some of the questions he is thinking about.
