This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of good diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan, with the ratification of the Peace Treaty and Reparations Agreement signed on the 23rd July 1956. This year has been proclaimed Phillipines-Japan Friendship Year, with the 23rd July becoming Philippines-Japan Friendship Day. Both countries will be celebrating the anniversary with a series of events, with participation from organisations that promote mutual understanding.
