Put together by Dr Nicolette Bethel, Director of Culture at the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture, and Dr Daniel Glaser of University College London as part of his NESTA Cultural Leadership Award, this draft cultural policy was released in Feburary 2006.
The draft was distributed for comment, and was associated with the Bahamian Stories website (http://www.bahamianstories.org).
Although there seems to have been no action since 2006, the draft policy provides a useful introduction and analysis of cultural issues in the Bahamas. Included are an overview of Bahamian culture, including an historical review, and a detailed SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opporutnites and threats) of Bahamian culture.
