The Scottish Arts Council and the British Council Scotland have established a joint head of international arts position, which will oversee the International Arts Strategy. The strategy will provide a basis between the two councils to further their collaborative efforts in the arts. Culture Minister Patricia Ferguson launched the strategy, which is hoped to raise the profile of Scottish artists, as well as raise the profile of arts internationally. The strategy will outline a three-year program to increase the impact and number of arts projects, develop international networks, and establish Scotland as an internationally recognised centre for excellence in the arts. Culture Minister Patricia Ferguson said: "This strategy demonstrates our commitment to helping artists develop this identity further to establish Scotland’s place as a true world centre of excellence".
