Scotland changes arts funding policies

02 March 2006, United Kingdom

The Scottish Arts Council has agreed that from April 2007, it will change the way it supports the arts in Scotland. The changes will focus more on the needs of artists, ensure a healthier, sustainable arts sector, and reinforce its commitment to improving opportunities to artists. Organisations with a distinctive and unique role in relation to an art form, policy priority, and/or place, will be funded long-term. Additional expectations will be placed on these organisations, in terms of quality and standards. There will still be individual and flexible funding. An increase of funding will also be included in the changes, with funds rising £4m to £14 million in 2007-08. All areas of the arts will see funding boosts. For more information, CLICK HERE.
