The Cultural Action Fund, run by the National Cultural Foundation in Barbados, handed out $1.2 million to arts organisations last year. National Cultural Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Ian Estwick, said the assistance was 'unprecedented' for the arts in Barbados. "We are now able to help local artists and cultural practitioners achieve real results, and there is strong evidence that the grant is creating an economic multiplier effect," he said. "For example, 90 per cent of the projects are utilising local suppliers to achieve their stated goals and objectives and this is what we intend when the CAF programme was designed."
