Call for tenders on cultural diversity

The Organisation of Latin American states for Education, Science and Culture are calling for tenders. The information will be used to create a UNESCO international report on cultural diversity. The Organization of Latin American states for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), calls for a tenders based on the following: Justification The concept of “cultural diversity” has been making ground in public policy over the last few years. This advance must be reflected in more precise ways to identify the objectives and implement actions and policies to protect cultural diversity in Latin American countries. Objectives The UNESCO Worldwide Report on Culture (2007) will try to analyze and reflect on these problems connected to cultural diversity in an international context. Specialists, statisticians and artists will exchange their opinions and experiences and propose recommendations on which the new policies can be based on the objectives:
  • To identify regional specificities and innovative approaches to the notion of cultural diversity
  • To provide a general vision in the region of the different approaches to the implementation of processes and/or the interpretation of cultural diversity within the framework of national policy structures.
  • To provide a better understanding of the concept of cultural diversity in terms of the accomplishment of excellent cultural policies in the Latin American region and to begin to collect detailed and relevant information for investigators, cultural policy legislators and cultural operators Geographic Scope Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Material objective of the work Studies of exemplary cases and bibliographical selection of projects and/or experiences of notable interest about different topics identified as relevant to the region.   • Educational Diversity
  • Diversity and methods
  • Diversity and gender
  • Diversity and religion Length and format The works must have a minimum of 10 pages and maximum of 20 in DIN A4 format. They will have to be single spaced typed in Spanish or Portuguese using Arial 12 point. The first page of the work will properly cite: the title of the document, the name of the author, nationality, date of birth, telephone, mailing address and email. For email please include the following in the subject line: Informe UNESCO OEI followed by the author’s name. The mailbox will be deactivated on June 16th. Deadline for Submissions The deadline for receipt of documents in the OEI is: June 15th 2006. The jury could declare the call for tenders void if, in their opinion, no submission is of sufficient quality to be published. The OEI reserves the right to give selected works to UNESCO for publication. Prizes and publication The selected submissions will be published in the OEI Revista Pensar Iberoamérica as a part of the compilation of material for the elaboration of the chapter corresponding to Ibero-America of the 2007 UNESCO worldwide report on cultural diversity. Additionally, it will award $200 to each of the selected works. The OEI reserves the right to select less works when deemed pertinent.
