Ireland’s Arts Council has released a report on public participation in, and attitudes towards, the arts. The first study of its type since 1994, The Public and the Arts found that barriers to attending the arts have been significantly reduced over the past 12 years. “The outcome of the report is very encouraging for the arts in Ireland,” said Council Director, Mary Cloake. “The report clearly shows that Irish people place a high value on the arts, both for their own personal enjoyment and as an important element of community life”.
