Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, France’s Minister for Culture and Communication, has opened the European and International Symposium for Research at the Pompidou Centre. Following the first world conference on artistic education organised by UNESCO (Lisbon, March 2006) and its adoption of a “roadmap” for governments, the symposium looked the importance of artistic and cultural education. Over 50 European and international researchers met to present their works, from the point of view of psychology, sociology, science, education and cognitive sciences. A dozen round tables considered such questions as: What are the effects of artistic and cultural education on transverse competences, and on artistic and cultural practices? Do specific effects exist in different arts? What is the impact of the offers of partnership between educators and artists or professionals of culture? For more information, CLICK HERE
