Arts Director (Ref AC47) The Arts Council is seeking a senior manager to lead its policy, development and grant making in the areas of Artist Development, International Arts, Arts Participation, Young People, Children, Education & the Arts, Arts Festivals, Arts Venues and Local Arts Development. Context The reorganisation of work at the Arts Council will establish a number of teams to lead and support its work in these key areas of strategic importance to arts development. The Arts Director will have the opportunity to establish a new department which will be at the forefront of providing excellent service to the public, to the arts community, to government and the public sector generally. The new department will provide leadership in strategic policy making and will develop new and effective ways of supporting these growing areas of the arts, through the creation of efficient and effective grant-making and through initiatives and interventions designed to deliver the Arts Council’s strategic objectives. Role Overview Direct and manage this Arts Department in its delivery of those objectives of the Arts Council that are relevant to that department; collaborate with the Director, senior management team and the Operations Director in the implementation of specific delegated individual and team responsibilities that will optimise management processes within the Arts Council. Person Specification This post-holder will be expected to have at least five years experience at a senior management level in the arts, of which at least three should be of management within a large organisation operating at national level.
